Your adventure starts here!
About Us
Founded over a century ago, the 74th Perthshire Scouts Group continues a proud tradition of adventure and community. Thanks to the dedication of our young people, leaders, trustees, parent helpers, and volunteers, we now welcome all young people aged 4–18 across our Squirrel, Beaver, Cub, and Scout sections every week.
Our enthusiastic volunteer leaders – supported by our trustees, parent helpers, and young leaders – create fun, challenging, and life-shaping experiences for our members. From weekly meetings and local adventures to weekend camps, we offer opportunities that help young people gain skills, build confidence, and make friendships that last a lifetime.
Membership Fees
To join the 74th Perthshire Scouts Group, there is an initial £10 joining fee, followed by a subscription of £15 per month. From time to time, there may also be additional charges for certain activities, such as weekend camps or trips outside the hall. Fundraising events may also take place, and we ask that all families do their best to support and participate to help share the workload fairly.
We want every young person to be able to enjoy Scouting, regardless of financial circumstances. Thanks to our Inclusion Fund, financial support is available if needed, so no child is prevented from taking part. Please ask a member of our team for more information about how the Inclusion Fund can help.
Gift Aid
The 74th Perthshire Scouts Group operates a Gift Aid scheme, which allows us to claim additional funding from HMRC at no cost to parents. New members will receive a Gift Aid Declaration Form to complete if a parent or guardian is a UK taxpayer. We assume Gift Aid will be in place unless neither parent pays income tax at the standard rate.
Uniform
Members provide their own Squirrel, Beaver, Cub, or Scout sweatshirt/shirt, which can be purchased online at Glasgow Scout Shop
or shop.scouts.org.uk.
Locally, uniforms are also available at:
Guiding Depot, 80 Victoria Street (Tues/Wed 10–2; Thurs 3–6; Sat 10–3)
Stevensons, 85 Scott Street, Perth, PH2 8JR.
The group provides all neckerchiefs and badges. Occasionally, second-hand uniforms and hoodies are available for purchase through the group. Hoodies cost £15 new or £7.50 second-hand.
For normal meetings, casual trousers and trainers are fine; for trips and visits, smarter school trousers, kilts, or shoes may be needed
